During the lockdown, the Chathams used their unique location to isolate from the rest of New Zealand. Aside from essential suppies that were flown in by Air Chathams no ‘outsiders’ came to the islands during that time. Even locals arriving back were sent into self-exile until they were deemed ‘safe’.

Awarakau Lodge is one of those premises that can easily isolate from the community, if needed, as the nearest neighbour is some distance away.

Bookings from known areas of infection, or areas under specific Alert levels may be declined, or special conditions may be imposed, depending on the level of risk involved.
