Covid 19
The Chatham Islands has remained covid free (fingers x-ed) to date (October 2020). That means there have been NO known cases on the Chathams. During the lockdown, the Chathams used their unique location to isolate from the rest of New Zealand. Aside from essential suppies that were flown in by Air Chathams no 'outsiders' came to the islands during that time. Even locals arriving back were sent into self-exile until they were deemed 'safe'. Awarakau Lodge is one of those premises that can easily isolate from the community, if needed, as the nearest neighbour is some distance away.
